Landing page vs. website page

SOLVE

We recently started building our new website in Hubspot CMS, and I have a question.

Does it matter, which types of pages are built as website pages or landing pages respectively?

I know that conventionally, you'd create the more static parts of the website as website pages and content offers and the like on landing pages, but would it actually have any negativeoutcomes, if we also create the home page and product pages as landing pages?

I'm thinking for instance about SEO/rankings whether it is possible to host the landing pages on a main domain, instead of a subdomain?

Any input is welcome here 🙂

Thanks,

Rikke

SOLVE

Hi@RikkeAtPeytz🙂

I hope you are fine. In relation to your question, I'd like to say that it's not a good idea to implement web pages as landing pages with HubSpot.

Mixing webpages analytics within landing pages analytics is confusing. When you create landing pages, you need specific metrics like conversion rate that are irrelevant for webpages. You will have a big loss of precious data.

In relation to your second and third questions, the response is the same: there's no difference externally from the SEO point of view. The differences are in the creation and reporting tools.

Regards,

Hi again@RikkeAtPeytz.

I'd like to add an observation:

  • Landing pages are not added automatically to the sitemap. You have to do it manually.

Much depends on what your site specializes in. Since due to the specialization may be different structures of the site. In any case, it is better to consult with a more experienced specialist who will help you decide. Websites are a very important tool for every company. Because with websites, companies can communicate with their customers. Our company has also integrated the ip checker api to know more information about the visitors.

SOLVE

Hi@chris_eriksson, I hope you are doing well!

While HubSpot actually does not yet have a resource published that digs into the differences in those two options, this external blog actually provides a perfect explanation to cover the differences, and when it could be better to use one option over the other.

Both of them would generally give you the capability to design a page using the Drag-and-drop editor, the purpose of having different options is really to help with Analytics bucketing and help differentiate the types of pages on your site. It would be up to you and your team as to which option would work better for what your design should look like though!

Hope this helps,

Diana

Muchas gracias, Rafael!

The reporting issues were my primary concern as well, and it's very helpful to hear it from someone else.

The sitemap issue was not on my radar, so thanks a lot for pointing that out👍
