Plant Spacing

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

More Information

Description The colorful flowers on 'Rosie Posie' hummingbird mint (or Agastache) are sure to get your garden buzzing in summer and fall. Magenta flowers bloom in abundance, and purple calyxes continue to add interest after they fade. It makes this perennial's incredibly long bloom time feel even longer!

While it's beloved for its flowers, hummingbird mint is also highly fragrant and adds a pleasant aroma to the garden. The foliage has a minty, spicy scent that is particularly noticeable when the leaves are brushed against or crushed. These hardy perennials are drought-tolerant and thrive in full sun, making them an excellent choice for those who want a low-maintenance landscape without frequent watering. Since they are resistant to diseases and pests (like deer and rabbits), gardeners can enjoy their beauty without worry!

four made it the other died

These arrived in fine shape but only 4 out of five made it. Plus the blazing sun was supposed to be red and it’s orange instead. Only two of the red Hot Poker’s lived. The third, which was treated exactly the same, dried up and died.
